Mission 701 has remained a well-regarded model for many years. As well as being well-reviewed for its full rich sound and high efficiency, it has a sturdy build quality and an attractive black wood-grain finish. Can be used on stands (not included) or on a large bookshelf.
These speakers have an unusually powerful and clear bass for their size, a smooth top-end, great depth and imaging in the mid-range, and a warm sound without excessive brightness. They can compete with modern speakers at a significantly higher price and are particularly suited to classical, jazz and acoustic music genres because of their good detail and sound color, although users seem to like them across a range of genres. Great for home theatre as well. They can produce plenty of volume if that's what you want, although I have appreciated their clarity in a small setting.
