It is traditionally a wedding robe called 'uchikake' (the bottom hem is padded).
The artwork is accomplished via 'yuzen' painting, a type of resist-dye painting developed in the late 17th century in Japan.
Comes with obi, shoes and other accessories etc.
Still in original box.
Brought back from Japan i the 50´es. Never used.
