Originally acquired in 1966 at an estate sale in a pre-Confederation Ontario farmhouse in Lanark County (south west of Ottawa), this rocking chair has outlasted the century. Made primarily of willow and elm with woven seat and back, the chair features attractive finials on the uprights and turnings on the top rail and front stretchers. The detail of the woven back and seat are also features. Paint not original, added in 1967. One side of the seat calls for restorative attention but the chair still holds weight and functions well.
